Christine Temple Jeremy Bellino |
 |
May 30th, 2010 |
Christine and Jeremy met as coworkers at Rooter’s BBQ in Covington and in no time sparks began to fly. After Jeremy popped the question following a memorable trip to The Nutcracker over Christmas, Christine knew she wanted a spring wedding and they settled on Memorial Day weekend. I invited Christine to join me at the January Seattle Wedding Show and with her close family in tow we spent the day pouring over ideas and vendors that could help make her wedding a unique celebration. Christine’s mom helped her plan the majority of the event, and with a tight budget they made some excellent cost cutting decisions that still showed off Jeremy and Christine’s unique style. Such as using all cherry blossom silk flowers for the arrangements and bouquets, baking their own cupcakes and wedding cake, hand making sugar cookies as favors, and finding her wedding dress on CraigsList for $150! With less than 3 weeks to go before the big day I was brought in to help finalize details and get up to speed on the day-of plan so Jeremy, Christine and their families could truly savor the event. Held at Titlow Lodge in Tacoma, the old style cabin boasts hardwood floors and large picture windows looking out on Pointe Defiance Park. With assistance from their friends I organized and executed set-up the day of, multi-tasked to run through a rehearsal, which happened an hour before the actual ceremony, while still directing the set-up staff, got everyone down the aisle on time, and then helped manage the reception schedule and oversee clean-up of the lodge. Their wedding was a beautiful success and her family is very grateful that I was able to step in and make it all happen so they could celebrate with the happy couple and their friends. |

Chrissie Jimenez Nathan Edwards |

May 22nd, 2010 |
Chrissie and I met via The City, Mars Hill Church’s online community. She
posted a question about how to manage a DIY wedding and I responded with some
ideas and an offer to help her out. We met for lunch one afternoon and she hired
us shortly thereafter to help her and Nathan plan their wedding and run the day-of
events. Chrissie used me as a resource at first, asking questions about flowers
and linens and ideas on centerpieces. About 2 months before her wedding we sat
down and went through all the details, giving me a chance to become intimately
familiar with her event. Nathan and Chrissie’s wedding took place at the
DAR Chapter House on Capitol Hill. A colonial style mansion with period furniture,
blue willow china and a vaulted ceiling entertainment space boasting Craftsman
style finishes and hardwood floors. Chrissie had a vision of bright spring colors
on a black and white backdrop, and I am happy to say we were able to pull off
the wedding of her dreams. With a team of vendors on our side, we helped create
a beautiful ceremony. And while everyone enjoyed a boisterous cocktail hour downstairs,
we teamed up with the DAR staff and transformed the ceremony space into a bright
and colorful reception. Nathan and Chrissie were able to see the space first,
and the look of pure joy on Chrissie’s face as she hugged me and said “This
is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen” was well worth the work.
Their day went perfectly, with them and their families being very grateful we
were there to help make it all happen. |

Elena Duarte
Daric' Wichers |

September 30th, 2009 |
Daric' proposed to Elena in January, but any talk of wedding planning
made Daric' clam up and Elena break out into hives. That's where I came
in! After our initial meeting in mid-June, I quickly realized that we had a lot
of work to do and very little time to do it. They wanted to get married on September
30th which was less than four months away. I encouraged them to keep the unique
details they had already discussed. For example, their date was special, which
meant we had to find a location that did weddings on a Wednesday night but stayed
open late enough to allow dancing. Five days later we went shopping for Elena's
dress, and then spent 6 weeks looking for the perfect New York style venue, deciding
on Lake Union Cafe. I spent countless hours helping finalize and assemble
the invitations, writing and producing each personalized program, visiting local
pet stores to find just the right size and color of goldfish for the centerpieces,
while paying careful attention to the tight budget. Their wedding day
proved that unique details and careful planning could lead to a truly wondrous
event. Their ceremony went perfectly, the guests had an enchanted evening, and
the bride and groom simply glowed. |

Elaine Bogan
Todd Ranson |

"We have sworn, and not lightly. This oath we will keep."
—Fëanor, Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkein
Elaine was finishing her master's degree back East when Todd proposed,
and she didn't get back to Seattle until 6 weeks before the wedding. But Elaine
had done most of the major planning already. They had a venue, she had a dress,
they wanted a high-tea reception and were providing swing dance lessons as a gift
to their guests. My role was more as a consultant, helping to ensure they hadn't
forgotten any details and preserving the unique touches they wanted to include.
Elaine's love of children's books led them to do a ceremony reading from The
Velveteen Rabbit and Todd's fascination with Lord of the Rings provided some comic relief
as they both recited "...with this One Ring as a Tolkien of my love and affection..." during
their ring exchange. The main portion of my time was spent managing the day-of
events so Todd and Elaine could enjoy a stress free wedding. I selected the florist
and ordered the flowers (sight unseen by the bride), suggested they use a sand
ceremony instead of a unity candle, directed the crew of teens they employed to
help do set-up & clean-up, orchestrated their walk down the aisle, manned the
reception schedule so they could freely chat with guests, and tied up all the
loose ends of the ceremony and reception after they rode away. They continue to
thank me for my service the day of their wedding, and I am blessed to be a part
of their lives. |
